This particular para gives the general overall view of autocad. actually this should have been my first blog in this new series i hv started , but nevertheless , it should be useful for a new user.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
1) There is no limit to the size of the drawing in Autocad
2) It allows you to draw everything at full scale. The scale factor is determined by the paper size on which you are going to plot your drawing. Hence same drawing can be plotted on small or large paper and at different scales.
3) Commands to draw different entities can be given by more than one method.
a) By typing either the full command or the shortcut letter on the command line
b) By picking up the command from the top menu bar
c) By picking up the command from the side menu
d) By clicking on the toolbar
This helps different types of users to use AutoCad as per their own convenience. - Also, complete screen can be customised to suit individual needs.
4) The default settings are
a) A drawing area of 12 X 9 inches or 420 X 297 mm. You may type any suitable figures as per the need.
b) Decimal number system with accuracy level of four places after the decimal point
Acad allows accuracy upto 8 places of decimal.
c) Angles measured as anticlockwise +ve, with 0 deg in +ve X-axis direction or to the East. Acad allows accuracy upto 8 places of decimal.
d) Smallest fraction with a denominator of 16
e) No fractions of angles etc.
i will be continuing with this series where the cad users will get important information. To some extent it may become a self learning exercise.!!!
